Godot Browser Game Notes: HTML5 Racing Pacing for Desktop (Playtest)
If you are building a Godot browser game or a Godot HTML5 racing prototype, pacing is where most of the feel lives. These notes share the real tuning numbers from CGT Rocket X Racer, a fan-made desktop browser runner, written for Godot and HTML5 developers who want a reference point.
The pacing numbers
- Base cruise cap: 52 m/s
- Boost: ×1.45 speed multiplier, lasting 1.8 s
- Boost cooldown: 3.0 s
- Peak after boost: roughly 75 m/s
Use these as a starting point when tuning your own HTML5 racing game: a clear cruise cap, a short boost, and a cooldown long enough that boost stays a decision.
Why this matters in the browser
Browser players arrive from a link and decide in seconds. A readable speed curve (cruise, spike, recover) makes the first run understandable without a tutorial. We target desktop browsers with keyboard controls only, so the pacing is tuned for that setup.
